The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the book Rhythms on the String of Consciousness by Dr. Youssef Al-Hassan.
This book carries an urgent call to build individual and collective awareness, in light of the intensifying pace of rapid changes and transformations, at various levels, in our Arab region and our global environment. It may enhance the ability to understand and interact, logical analysis, critical thinking, knowledge and experience, deep self-awareness, and the values of just citizenship, coexistence, and responsible freedom.
This book is an attempt to recall the necessity of deep awareness, in the face of media misinformation, information ignorance, wishful thinking, hegemonic discourses, practices of greed, arrogance, racism, fierce competitions, and sustainable wars, which are not subject to any ethical standards.
The book opens the door to serious reflection on the idea of awareness and its problems, the necessity of stimulating public debate in society, and arousing the passion for feeling national and humanitarian responsibility. The book also deals with cultural and political issues and experiences, and research into sweeping changes, demographic and technological transformations, which have their loud rhythms, repercussions and effects in the present and future. In addition to other Arab issues related to questions of identity, the politicization of religion, and building Arab-Arab peace.
