The Arab Unity Studies Center has published the book Missed Opportunities with Abdelaziz Bouteflika by Dr. Mohieddine Amimour.
This book is an attempt to provide a critical analytical reading of a sensitive and complex stage of Algeria’s contemporary political history, with the aim of shedding light on and providing a deeper understanding of the political and social conditions in Algeria during that era, through an Algerian political figure who witnessed the events and developments of nearly half a century of political life in Algeria after independence and was sometimes part of those events.
The book is not an autobiography, but rather a personal reflection and critical review of the writer’s experience in political work under the presidency of Abdelaziz Bouteflika, with a focus on the broad areas of “lost opportunities” that could have been utilized during Bouteflika’s era. The events in this book are presented within a historical documentary framework, in which the writer seeks to document the history of Algeria objectively, with a focus on the importance of documenting events to avoid losing an important era in his country’s history; he believes that future generations need to understand the true dimensions of what happened, and that contemplating this experience can contribute to formulating a better future vision for governing the country.
