The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the book ISIS: Legitimizing Savagery, by Ouafae Sandi.

The rise of ISIS in the region was one of the biggest manifestations of bloody organized and legalized violence in contemporary Arab history at least, after the practice of violence in this phenomenon took its most brutal and bloody form and was able to establish its state, and to attract tens of thousands of fighters of different ages and nationalities, including Children and women. Its influence and ability to act and attract reached various countries and societies of the world.

How is the phenomenon of ISIS understood, who are its leaders and fighters, and what is the source of all this brutal violence that governed its behavior: inherited thought? social reality? cultural, social, political and economic structure? or global hegemonic politics? How did this organization emerge and develop, and what are its most prominent intellectual starting points? What are the most prominent transformations it witnessed? and how has he managed to attract so many fighters from various societies, including Western ones?

This book is a semi-field research work that tries to provide answers to these and other questions, and to research the backgrounds, dimensions, transformations and tools of this phenomenon, as well as the challenges that it has imposed on the Arab world and the world. The book also seeks ways to confront it on various intellectual, organizational, political and technical levels… It adopts methodologies that overlap in fields of knowledge, like historical, social and psychological fields, aiming to provide a more comprehensive and understanding reading of the phenomenon of ISIS and terrorism in general, away from the analyzes and stereotyped readings that failed to understand and confront this phenomenon.
