The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the book Imperialism with Reference to Syria, by Dr. Ali Kadri, translated by Alaa Brik.
This book explores the meaning of imperialism as a concentrated component of wasteful accumulation and perpetual militarization. It discusses the key arguments of David Harvey and John Smith regarding the role of the United States, which, in their view, no longer represents the sole “imperial power,” now that China and Russia have become as dominant or imperialistic as the United States. This book refutes that characterization because it strips the concept of imperialism of its essence, as it removes the ideological determinant from it and defines it through its material elements or metaphysical features, which strengthens imperialism led by the United States and justifies further aggression against the peoples of developing countries.
The writer views imperialism as an intensification of the renewal of waste production, and this, especially the act of war, which is a component of accumulation through militarization, i.e., pure waste, is the exclusive domain of imperialism led by the United States, which is distinguished by being the only imperial power active in the Third World. He concluded that linking the practice targeting imperialism with revolutionary consciousness is a historical necessity for change and for moving towards freedom.
