The issue of democracy and human rights has become one of the most pivotal issues in the world in recent decades, especially after the autocratic regimes failed to achieve development and social justice; and to preserve human dignity, and secure decent living conditions and social security; or to preserve human right of participating in drawing up public policies in many countries of the world, including the Arab countries, in which the recent wave of popular protests came to express the depth of their governance crisis; especially with the continuing policies of repression and violations of human rights and with increasing unemployment, poverty and corruption, and the concentration of wealth in the hands of a small, controlled segment at the expense of the overwhelming majority of Arab people.
