The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the fourth edition of the book Critique of Western Culture: Orientalism and Eurocentrism by Dr. Abdelilah Belkeziz.
The ‘Critique of Western Culture” is the fourth and final part of the “Arabs and Modernity” project, which CAUS Center has previously published its three previous parts (from Reform to Revival, From Renaissance to Modernity, Critique of Heritage). This part is closely related to its predecessor (The Critique of Heritage) because together they tackle the same problem in Arab consciousness (the ego and the other) from two different perspectives.
This book focuses on two axes of Western culture that have always impacted the relationship of Europe with others, especially the Arabs. Thus, Orientalism and European cultures represent two of the most important axes of Criticism of Western culture in the thinking of Arab modernists. And this book analyzes and criticizes the work of an elite of those modernists.
