The Center for Arab Unity Studies issued the eighth edition of the book “Ibn Rushd and the chapter of the article in a report between Sharia and the wisdom of communication or the necessity of mental consideration and the limits of interpretation (religion and society)”, supervised and edited by Muhammad Abid Al Jabri.
The publication of this book comes as a contribution from CAUS to revive the thought of Ibn Rushd, a prominent Arab thinker who made a significant impact to the first European renaissance in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and whose presence remained strong in European thought until the eighteenth century.
The fundamental issue that Ibn Rushd raises in this book is the nature of the relationship between religion and society as understood during his own epoch.
The book includes a general introduction to Dr. Al-Jabri entitled “The History of the Relationship between Religion and Philosophy in Islam” and an extensive analytical reading made up from three sections, namely: “Speaking between Sharia and Wisdom”, “Judgments of Interpretation” and “Methods of Certification, and the categories of people”. He concludes the book with a summary entitled “Religion and Society “, then “the text of the article chapter” followed by “ An introduction to the Investigation” and finally “An enclosure in divine science”.
