The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the book Saudi Policy towards Yemen after the Popular Uprising 2011 by Aya Yousef Zaky Yousef.
The book revolves around the Yemeni political transformations and their repercussions on Saudi policy, as the Saudi policy towards Yemen has witnessed multiple changes historically. Just two years after the establishment of the third Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932, a war broke out between it and the Yemeni Mutawakkilite Kingdom, and it was settled under the Taif Agreement, without the full satisfaction by Yemen due to its approval of Saudi sovereignty over Jizan and Najran. Since then, Saudi Arabia showed sensitivity to any changes that would affect the political status in Yemen. This “sensitivity” caused Saudi’s foreign policy to be severely affected by the Yemeni popular uprising in February 2011 and its repercussions, passing through the Gulf initiative, up to the Houthi coup in September 2014 and its repercussions on Yemen and at the regional and international levels.
