The Centre for Arab Unity Studies has published the book Thoughts and Opinions on Concerns of the Nation by Dr. Ali Fakhro.
Arab issues—in their diverse political, social, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions—have been a central preoccupation for Ali Fakhro from his early youth to the present day. He has given expression to this concern through his professional career and administrative responsibilities, as well as through his cultural, political, and civic activities and his writings spanning decades. Today, by republishing a selection of these writings, he aspires to impart a legacy—or at least some lessons and insights—to the young Arab generation. This generation has not personally experienced many of the circumstances and events—both successes and failures—that have shaped the Arab world from the 1948 Palestine “Naksa” to the present, nor has it lived through the global transformations—political, economic, technological, and strategic—that the world has undergone and continues to experience, or the shifts in ideologies, concepts, and value systems, both enduring and evolving.
This book presents a selection of the intellectual writings of Ali Fakhro—comprising articles, interviews, lectures, and dialogues spanning decades—that reflect his humanitarian commitments and his national and pan-Arab convictions as an intellectual deeply concerned with the issues facing his people and nation. It is the first in a series of books the author is preparing under the same title, each addressing a specific political, cultural, or educational dimension of his body of work. He has dedicated this volume to Arab youth, hoping it might serve as a beacon illuminating the perilous, difficult, and challenging paths that this generation must navigate in an era defined by rapid change.
