Cultural questions were and remain a primary area of concern for sociologists and anthropologists. It is often argued that culture is subsequent to nature, and out of this understanding is born a way of learning and perceiving things. Knowledge and cognition are achieved through the production of mental images that give meaning to objects and phenomena, and they establish the criteria for their comprehension by arranging the relationships amongst their elements so that the intention or purpose of these images is clarified.
