In light of the political, economic and social turmoil in the Arab world, contemporary thought finds itself lacking the ability to provide a comprehensive explanation of the current state of affairs. A change is therefore required in the way the Arab intellectual, philosophical and historical heritage is read, that would contribute to building a new knowledge system that uncovers the many layers of contemporary Arab issues, thus to assist the reader in understanding the turmoils that plague the region and to stand up against the irrational return of the religious heritage, which has become a vital fuel for these storms.
