The Center for Arab Unity Studies published the book “Trump’s Promise: The Embodiment of Greater Israel” by Dr. Magdy Hammad.
The principle of “Greater Israel” occupies a central place of the “Zionist project.” When the First World Zionist Conference was convened in 1897, it laid the foundation for the establishment of the State of “Israel.” Then the Balfour Declaration of 1917 embodied “Little Israel”, and thus launched the comprehensive “colonial project” towards the Arab homeland, the foundations of which were laid by the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916; this confirmed the organic link between the Western colonial and Zionist projects. The United Nations then recognized “Israel” in 1947, within 56 percent of the land of historical Palestine, while this state was established in 1948 on 78 percent of Palestine.
With the United States assuming leadership of the Western capitalist bloc after the end of World War II, a kind of historical and direct correlation developed between the Zionist project and the United States, aimed at achieving the goal of establishing a “Greater Israel.” Indeed, it seems as though there is a tacit-shared program between the two parties, implemented stage by stage since the establishment of the State of Israel: Israel imposes a new “fait accompli,” which the United States then officially recognizes, supports, reinforces, and guarantees, and so the cycle repeats itself, stage after stage.
This trend reached its peak following Trump’s arrival at the White House, with his decisions regarding Jerusalem, then the Golan Heights, and the events in between and after. This was further compounded by the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation and the subsequent genocidal war in Gaza, as well as the American-Israeli assault on the entire Middle East to reshape its geopolitical landscape, subject it to American-Israeli hegemony, and pave the way for the “Greater Israel” project. This can be described as “Trump’s promise,” analogous to the Balfour Declaration, both of which played a pivotal role in the establishment of the State of Israel. Therefore, this book focuses on President Trump’s first term, as it represents the decisive “historical foundation” for the subsequent stages toward “Greater Israel.”
