This book explores the history of Jerusalem’s Christian community during the British military mandate (1917-1948). It examines the geography of the city of Jerusalem, Britain’s policy of administering the city as part of its occupation plans, the social and economic conditions of Jerusalem’s Christian community, and the local and nation-wide attitudes towards the Popular Front on the one hand, and towards the British Mandate on the other, which includes an analysis of their reactions to Jewish immigration, Jewish settlements, and the sale of Palestinian lands to Jewish immigrants.
