Wars and conflicts continue to dominate the general scene in the world, along with natural, climatic and bacterial risks, which have taken an upward trend recently, causing millions of victims and causing economic and social disasters, in which their confrontation urges an international cooperation in which various countries, regions and international and regional frameworks bear responsibility, in varying proportions..
In this context, the Center for Arab Unity Studies, in cooperation with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), continues, since 2003, to publish the Arabic version of the book Armament, Disarmament and International Security, which SIPRI has issued annually since 1966. This fifty-fourth annual book deals with the most prominent events related to armed conflicts and armaments around the world, it also presents disarmament processes and peace and truce agreements that occur in areas witnessing civil wars or conflicts between countries, as well as covering the issues of the Corona pandemic and climate change and their resulting social, economic and natural consequences.
The book’s chapters deal with developments in various continents and countries of the world. It refers to the peace processes that took place between countries and conflicting poles in some regions, defining the concepts and types of armed conflicts, and presenting tables containing figures on the number of conflicts and peace agreements that occurred in the last ten years. In this context, the book provides analysis of developments in the Americas, as well as in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, in addition to sub-Saharan African countries.
