This book is the production of the collaboration of a group of Arab thinkers and researchers whose goal is to put together an account of the state of the Arab nation during the years of 2015 and 2016. It examines in various dimensions and various levels of analysis the growing political trends and deepening crises undergoing in the Arab nation during that specific timespan.
The book is divided into three grand sections. The first deals with the developments of international politics and its impact on the Arab world, and the impact of foreign policies of powerful nations towards the region. The second section examines the political, social, economic and security factors in the Arab countries, which present and analyze the conditions that stall the pathways for democratization, including the initiative to rebuild the state in those countries. The third section deals with major hotspots of conflict in the Arab region, especially in occupied Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen, where conflicts and power struggles have taken a violent and destructive course that uprooted people from their own lands, left behind millions of displaced persons and migrants, hindered the capacities of unifying the various conflicting factions within these nations, and hampered the capacity of ensuring the safety and security of the state and society in each one of them.
