Development at the Margins of the Gulf

This book is the sixth edition of the annual series “Gulf Between Constant and Transformed”, prepared by the Gulf Center for Development Policy, which is contributed by a group of Arab Gulf researchers specialized in Gulf affairs from various fields of knowledge.

This year’s book re-addresses the question “Development for whom?”. So, it Examines the margins of this development in the GCC, focusing on the issues of social groups that are often marginalized by the dominant political, economic and social structure. This publication focused on two categories, usually in the “margin”, namely women and the expatriate workforce, addressing the chronic imbalances that have traditionally been the focus of this publication, and the laws and institutions related to development policies, from the perspective of these two social groups in the GCC. This is in addition to shedding light on the political and social mobility of these two groups, so that the margin becomes the center of this work.
