Published by the Center for Arab Unity Studies, a book entitled “The Sociology of Identity: Dialectics of Awareness, Fragmentation and Rebuilding” by Abdel Ghani Imad.
This book examines the question of identity and culture that occupied sociologists, anthropologists, and philosophers and still does till now, for identities do not consist of nothingness or emptiness, it is a constructive process that seeks homogeneity and integration within groups, as this process matures and completes its formation, it settles in social consciousness, bearing the basic characteristics that distinguish that specific group from another, and these attributes are defined within the relationships of symmetry and difference and reflect the link between any human and others and distinguishes him from them at the same time.
This book discusses the problems of sociology of identity and the different approaches around it, which today have become a scientific and academic specialization in many universities, and it presents its vision of the identity and culture in an increasingly globalized and disintegrated world, which is manifested in more than one place, and disastrously in the Arab World, where nervousness has exploded, and sectarian, sectarian and ethnic identities have swelled and turned into something like «herd consciousness», Until it began to turn into a fence that does not allow the mind to penetrate, and the «group» to get out of its collar.
The book includes eleven chapters, as well as an introduction, references and index.
