The Center for Arab Unity Studies has published the book “Armament, Disarmament and International Security 2018”, an annual book prepared by the Stockholm Institute for International Peace Research – SIPRI. Its Arabic version is issued by the Center for Arab Unity Studies, as usual since 2003, in agreement with the SIPRI Institute. It is a reference book that, as always, covers the most significant developments on the world stage on issues of armaments, armed conflict, tension and insecurity, as well as peace processes and arms control agreements in the world.
SIPRI Yearbook 2018 presents a combination of original data in areas such as world military expenditure, international arms transfers, arms production, nuclear forces, armed conflicts and multilateral peace operations with state-of-the-art analysis of important aspects of arms control, peace and international security.
The book covers, among other global and regional developments at these levels, the developments of armaments and armed conflicts in the “Middle East and North Africa”, meaning the Arab region and its neighbors, given the central position of this region in terms of armaments, military spending, wars, armed conflicts and terrorism, the fragility of security, the vulnerability of States and communities there to regional and international external interference, and environmental and climate changes and their implications for water and food security and thus the level of development in places Different from this region. These are all files that developed in 2017, however in different directions.
