Much has been written about the 1920 revolt in Iraq, its causes, motives, orientations and goals, the classes, trends, and political movements involved, as well as its failures and achievements. Much of what has been written on the topic has so far been very fragmented by conflicting views on the revolution and the forces that participated in it. Some saw it as a nationalist unitary movement and a national independence movement, while others considered it merely to be a tribal or religious reaction to the status quo.<\/p>\n
